Immunisation

Immunisation processes are those which are undertaken to create immunity from specific diseases. Immunity is the status where a person can be exposed to a disease but not develop it.

The only absolutely guaranteed way to achieve immunity from a specific disease is to get the disease itself, but this is not the desirable option in diseases which are life threatening, or can cause long term health complications.

“Prophylaxis” or “disease prevention” is the use of particular methods to confer immunity from disease, without actually contracting the disease itself.

“Vaccination” is one method of doing this.

Another is “Homeoprophylaxis” – the use of specific Homeopathic medicines.
